ISLAMABAD:Pakistan has proposed that Uzbek investors should establish display centres in Pakistan to promote bilateral trade and cooperation with Uzbekistan.

During a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, Minister for Investment, Privatisation and Communication, Abdul Aleem Khan, with Uzbek Ambassador, Alisher Tukhtaev, reiterated that Pakistan is eager to promote bilateral trade and cooperation with Uzbekistan. He noted that positive progress will be made in this regard in the coming days.

He added that the two countries share strong ties together in terms of history, culture and religion. Ambassador Tukhtaev expressed his country’s desire to enhance trade and cultural relationship with Pakistan in future.

The meeting also included discussions about the visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to Uzbekistan next month. Ambassadors observed that the visits by the heads of government and ministers of the both countries are playing an important role in strengthening bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.

Aleem Khan suggested that Uzbekistan may send its tourism companies to Pakistan and invited investment in additional communication projects in Pakistan besides the construction of motorways.
