MARDAN, April 19: Deputy district education officer (females) Rukhsana Rahim has alleged that she is being harassed and victimised by a provincial minister for having refused to sign a bogus medical bill of Rs63,000 for his sister.

Talking to journalists at the press club here on Wednesday, she said that a sister of the minister was employed in a government school whereas she had been living in Islamabad for five years.

She claimed that the personal assistant of the minister brought a medical bill of the minister’s sister which she refused to sign because she wanted to check if she was on duty during the period mentioned in the bill.

She claimed that about 200 schools in the district were checked but it could not be ascertained if and where minister’s sister was on duty. Therefore, she said, she refused to sign the medical bill.

She said that she was being victimised and the minister was trying to get her transferred.

She also alleged that a bodyguard of district nazim attacked her and tried to snatch her official vehicle. She also accused the nazim’s guard of snatching her purse containing Rs20,000 in cash and gold bangles weighing 16 tolas and threatening her of dire consequences. She said that she had submitted an application to the local police for registration of an FIR against the nazim but the police refused to register the case.
