PESHAWAR, April 19: The emergency police have lodged a complaint with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and two cellular phone companies against some persons for using abusive language on emergency call number 15.
Two of the cellular phone companies had provided free of cost police emergency service to their subscribers to facilitate them in case of any incident or emergency, police officials said.
“We have asked the PTA and cellular phone companies to take legal action against these people,” said a senior official. He said that a meeting would be held with PTA officials and mobile phone companies to stop the occurrence of such incidents.
The sources said that the police had started preparing a list of callers, which included a large number of students and young girls.
Most callers abused the police force with some of them singing songs while a few of them tried to “entertain” the policemen with dirty jokes, said officials, who had been tasked to prepare the list.
The number of these unwanted calls exceeded 100 daily, they said.
The police was planning to initially caution these callers, adding that and legal action would be taken if they persisted, they said.
