BAJAUR: An intra-district T20 cricket tournament organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board kicked off at the Bajaur Sports Complex here the other day.

A statement issued from the office of the district sports officer, PCB officials and cricket fans also attended the launching ceremony of the tournament meant to polish the skills of local players. It said about 30 teams from across the district, which are registered with PCB, were taking part in the four-week-long festival.

As per the tournament format, the participating teams have been divided into four groups, while two matches will be played every day.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, PCB officials highlighted the purpose and significance of the event. They said the event would help find the talented players, who would be part of the board’s region-based coming events, and to know about the needs and challenges being faced by local players.

The PCB officials pledged to ensure provision of modern facilities to local players.

They expressed pleasure over the passion for the game among the local people.
