KARACHI, April 19: Sindh Inspector General Police Jehangir Mirza on Wednesday suspended 13 police personnel who had locked up teenage boys and kept them in fetters.

On an inquiry report received from the regional police officer Hyderabad, the IGP ordered the departmental action against the personnel for their negligence.

The suspended officials are SHO Qasimabad Inspector Rafiq Awan, SHO Bhitai Nagar SI Hasan Ali Abidi, in-charge investigation Bhitai Nagar SI Lal Bux Leghari, Duty Officer Police Station Qasimabad SI Ibrahim Khan, Duty Officer Police Station Bhitai Nagar SI Mushtaq Channa, in-charge investigation Police Station Qasim Nagar ASI Khalil ur Rehman, ASI Karim Chachar, head constables Rasool Bux and Abdul Majeed, constable Mohammed Usman, Police Station Qasimabad, head constable Shams Rajpar and Mohammed Yusuf and constable Ayaz Police Station Bhitai Nagar.

The IGP also called for explanations from DIG operation Hyderabad Mazhar Ali Shaikh, DPO Hyderabad Ali Ahmed Junejo, TPO Cantonment/SDPO Qasimabad, ASP Dr Mohammed Farooq, SP Investigation Hyderabad, DSP Ghulam Mustafa Korai and SP Headquarter Parvez Chandio within 24 hours.—APP
