LAHORE: The Lahore Electricity Supply Company (Lesco) inspection team on Monday detected a large number of power pilferers in Attari Saroba area.

A Nishtar Colony Sub-Division team led by its SDO conducted an operation in the area and nabbed the suspects who were stealing electricity by attaching a hook to the Lesco supply line on Ashiana Road.

The Lesco team disconnected the illegal connection and registered cases against the suspects, besides charging them for 40,000 units as a detection bill, according to a spokesman.

Meanwhile, Lesco on Monday recovered Rs9.018 million from 257 chronic defaulters in all the five districts- Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara -- during its recovery campaign.

Lesco spokesman told the media that the company has recovered outstanding dues of Rs3m from 31 defaulters in Northern Circle; Rs 0.085m from 27 defaulters in Eastern Circle; Rs2.051m from 48 defaulters in Central Circle; Rs0.066m from 24 defaulters in Southern Circle; Rs0.017m from 22 defaulters in Nankana Sahib Circle; Rs0.094m from 44 defaulters in Sheikhupura Circle; Rs0.041m from 40 defaulters in Okara Circle; and Rs0.051m from 21 defaulters in Kasur Circle.
