IDB team inspects PQA facilities

KARACHI, April 19: A 3-member delegation of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) accompanied by two officials of Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited (TSML) visited Port Qasim on Wednesday.

According to a PQA press release the IDB members were briefed on the ongoing and future projects of Port Qasim and its performance in various sectors, including up gradation of existing infrastructure. The TSML will be utilizing PQA’s services for all imports and exports from Pakistan. The IDB will be financing various TSML projects.

Chairman PQA Vice Admiral Asad Qureshi assured the delegation of all support to the TSML from the PQA whenever required. He apprised the delegation of the reduced cost of port and terminal charges and also about reduction in the berthing period of vessels calling at the port.

The delegation later visited the Pakistan Steel Jetti at Port Qasim as the jetty is likely to be used for transportation of raw material for the TSML.
