SUKKUR: Shikarpur claimed to have gunned down two dacoits of Badhani-Jatoi gang and wounded six of their associates besides burning down several hideouts used by criminals during an ongoing targeted operation against kidnappers and criminals in riverine area in the jurisdiction of Kot Shahu police station.

According to police statement issued on Thursday, Shikarpur SSP Shahzeb Chachar said that a join team of police and Rangers had killed two gangsters identified as Bagh Ali and Misri Badhani-Jatoi, who were wanted by police in different cases of heinous crimes such kidnapping for ransom and harbouring criminals.

The SSP said that they had also wounded six dacoits identified as Ali Mohammad Badhani, Ghulam Mustafa Badhani, Abdul Jabbar Jatoi, Rahib Jatoi, Ali Mardan Jatoi and an unidentified outlaw.

He said that more than 20 dacoits had been killed and 70 injured during the joint operation which had been under way for the last two months. A heavy contingent of police and Rangers personnel with armored vehicles and modern machinery were taking part in the operation, he said.

He said that Shikarpur police and Rangers were determined to clean the entire riverine area of outlaws and dacoits.

Police checkpoints had been set up in the areas, which had been cleared of gangsters as police aimed to make Shikarpur district a peaceful place.
