WEST BROMWICH (England), April 18: West Brom picked up what could prove to be a vital point in their fight to stave off relegation with a goalless draw against Bolton at The Hawthorns in Monday's late Premiership match.

The result left Bryan Robson's strugglers second from bottom on 29 points, level with Birmingham but still three away from safety with three games to play.

Last year Robson's side escaped the drop on the last day of the season and 12 months on it looks like going down to the wire again.

Early in the second half of an uninspiring encounter Robson had his head in his hands when Diomanmsy Kamara stabbed wide when it looked easier to score.

But West Brom will in the end have been satisfied with the point as Bolton's Kevin Nolan missed a live chance of grabbing a winner in injury time but he fluffed his strike over the bar from bang in front of goal.

Charlton had handed West Brom what could prove to be a Premiership lifeline by beating fourth-from bottom Portsmouth.

Bolton moved up one place into eighth above West Ham in their quest for UEFA Cup football next season.
