ISLAMABAD: A number of education ministers and 56 delegates from 29 Islamic countries will sit together here in Islamabad on January 11-12 to advancing girls education, promote awareness on women empowerment, and uphold their rights.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Pakistan, in collaboration with Raabta Aalmi Islami (Muslim World League), is organising an “International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities” at the behest of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

According to an official statement issued by the Press Information Department, the global summit aims to address the challenges and opportunities in advancing girls’ education across Muslim communities worldwide; foster dialogue; and find actionable solutions to cope with challenges. The conference will provide an ideal platform for high-level discussions and collaborations.

It said that the event will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who will deliver the keynote address at the opening session and reaffirm the nation’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and gender equality.

“The event will bring together over 150 international dignitaries, including ministers, ambassadors, academia from 44 Muslim and friendly countries, representatives from international organisations, including UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank.

Speakers and panellists will share transformative success stories, showcasing innovative approaches to advancing education equity, the press release said.

It further said that the conference will conclude with a formal signing ceremony of the Islamabad Declaration, outlining the shared commitment of the Muslim community to empower girls through education, paving the way for inclusive and sustainable educational reforms, and a brighter future for generations to come.
