Two education dept officials die on road in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: Two officials of the South Waziristan district education office were killed and a woman officer was injured when the car they were travelling in hit a truck in Darra Pezu town of Lakki Marwat on Tuesday night.

A Rescue 1122 official said the tragic accident occurred on the Indus Highway in a tough mountainous terrain.

He said a medical team shifted the wounded woman, later identified as Upper South Waziristan district education officer Ghulam Fatima, to the District Headquarters Hospital in Tajazai.

The rescue official identified the deceased as Illauddin Mehsud, a resident of DI Khan, and Tamizuddin, a resident of Landi Jalandhar, Bannu.

According to a report released by the South Waziristan deputy commissioner, Ms Fatima, her driver, Illauddin and senior clerk Tamizuddin met the accident when they were going to Dera after attending a meeting at Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education in Peshawar.

Ms Fatima received serious injuries while the other two officials died instantly. The wounded official was later referred to a Peshawar hospital owing to her critical condition.
