BADIN: Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has said that top leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party directly responsible for the theft of Sindh’s natural resources.

He said while speaking to a rally of party workers on Shah Latif Road in front of Awan-i-Sahafat on Wednesday that PPP was now dramatically opposing the construction of six canals on Indus River but people of Sindh were very well aware of the signature Mr Zardari had put on the draft for construction of the canals.

He said that Sindh was an agrarian province and rich in mineral and other resources but a conspiracy was being hatched to render the province barren by constructing the canals on Indus. “We will never allow them to play with the lives of people of Sindh,” he said.

He said later speaking to media persons that the federal government had announced the construction of canals with the collaboration of PPP and President Asif Ali Zardari.

He pointed out that two million acres of Sindh’s land was being handed over to countries like China, Saudi Arabia and Dubai for corporate farming, which, he warned, would lead to the destruction of the districts of Umerkot, Tando Mohammad Khan and Badin.

Dr Magsi announced that his party has launched a movement titled “Sindh is our mother and the Indus is our lifeline” against the anti-Sindh actions.

He demanded immediate cancellation of all anti-Sindh projects and called for distribution of land among Sindh’s landless farmers instead of parceling the land out to corporate entities.

He warned that if these plans were not stopped, people would remain on the streets in protest and continue their struggle for justice.
