PESHAWAR, April 18: The Muttahida Talaba Mahaz (MTM) on Tuesday boycotted classes in the Khyber Medical College and staged a sit-in in protest against what they called the introduction of a new examination system by the University of Peshawar.

The students under the banner of the MTM, an organisation representing all student organisations, gathered at the Khyber Medical College (KMC) and raised slogans against the vice-chancellor and controller of examinations.

MTM leader Asadullah Ghalib accused the varsity administration of giving undue favour to students of private medical colleges by allowing them to sit in the examinations with the KMC students.

He said they would not allow the students of private medical colleges to sit in the examination with the KMC students. He alleged that fictitious roll numbers had been allotted to facilitate the students of the private medical college.

He said papers had been sent to Punjab under a conspiracy and added that the new system had already delayed results by three months.

Later, students went out to block the main road. However, they dispersed peacefully after KMC teachers assured them that their demands would be met in three days.
