An Israeli air strike on a tent for displaced Palestinians within a so-called “humanitarian zone” killed five children and injured others, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund, Al Jazeera reports.

The attack took place in al-Mawasi, a coastal area near the southern town of Khan Younis, killing three boys and two girls. All were aged between seven and 13 years old, Unicef said.

“Children have nowhere to be protected from bombs, cold, disease and hunger,” the UN agency said.

“This must stop, now.”
