NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 17: Around 100 people blocked the National Highway on Monday demanding registration of an FIR against people responsible for the death of Roshan Ali, 22.
Roshan Ali, who died in the Naushahro Feroze Civil Hospital on Sunday evening, had been admitted on court orders after allegation of police torture.
Mother of the victim Ms Sakina Bhatt was leading the protesters.
Carrying the body of Ali, they blocked the Naushahro Feroze-Bhirya road for about one-and-a-half hour. They burnt tyres demanding registration of the report.
The taluka police officer Naushahro Feroze reached on the spot and informed the protesters that an FIR had been lodged against the responsible people.
SP (investigation) Gul Mohammad said an FIR was lodged on Monday against in-charge investigation Sub-inspector Azeem Rajpar and six civilians Munawar Bhatt alias Muno, Riaz, Mushtaq alias Mashooq Abro, Momin, Pervez Bhatt and Ghulam Hyder alias Manu Nizamani under sections 302, 343 and 109 PPC.
The sub-inspector had been suspended, SP investigation said.
However, no arrest was made till filing of this report.
RAIN: Mehrabpur, Padidan towns and adjoining villages received rain here on Sunday evening.
The rain hit harvested and thrashed wheat at encampments and standing crop in mango orchards.
JUI’S STAND: JUI Senator Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro has held the government agencies responsible for the Nishtar Park carnage.
Speaking to reporters in Tharushah town on Monday, he claimed that the government had made no progress in the case of the blast.
He linked the restoration of real democracy in the country to the return of the Army to barracks.
Dr Khalid Mehmood said that a movement against the government would start from April 27, from Sukkur and on April 28, procession would be taken out in Larkana.
