HARIPUR, April 17: Thieves took away cash and valuables worth Rs10 million from a house in sector 4 of Khalabat Township here on Monday. Khalabat Township police quoted one Shamshad Bibi, wife of Meboodur-Rehman as saying that her husband was abroad for the last three decades and she was alone with her children.

On Monday morning, she left her home at around 10 am to attend a Meelad ceremony. When she got back she found the doors of her house open.

Shamshad Bibi said the thieves had decamped with 5 kg of gold, prize bonds amounting Rs1 million, Rs70,000 cash, a digital camera, cell phone and CD player. She estimated the loss at about Rs10 million.
