THATTA: A fisherman drowned, one was rescued and two of their colleagues went missing after their boat capsized due to rough waters in Arabian Sea near Roro, Shah Bunder, early on Wednesday morning.

The body of the fisherman, Anees Parheri, was recovered by local fishermen while his brother Mushtaq Parheri, was rescued in an unconscious state and immediately transferred to Baghan hospital for treatment. Search continues for the remaining two fishermen, Majeed Khaskheli and Manzoor Khaskheli, who were feared to have drowned.

Fishermen from nearby villages rushed to the accident site to assist in ongoing search efforts for the bodies. However, no action was taken by the Thatta district administration to provide help to the victims or their families.

A leader of local fisher community, Ali Hassan Parheri confirmed death of Anees Parheri, and survival of his brother Mushtaq Parheri in a semi-conscious state. Majeed Khaskheli and Manzoor Khaskheli had not been found yet, he said.

CM grieved at tragedy

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed sorrow over the tragedy and extended condolences to the affected families. He instructed local authorities to keep in contact with the grieving families and provide them all necessary support.

He directed local administration to step up efforts to ensure the missing fishermen were located before nightfall. The incident has left the fishing community in mourning and highlighted urgent need for enhanced safety measures for local fishermen operating in the area.
