QUETTA, April 16: The Balochistan Agriculture Graduates Association (BAGA) has threatened to launch a protest campaign against alleged irregularities and nepotism in the appointment of a senior agriculture department official.
In a statement here on Sunday, the association drew attention to the case of an Islamiyat teacher who had been appointed director general of the agriculture department extension.
The teacher is a brother of Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, provincial chief of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.
The association said in a statement that a meeting of the action committee had discussed the matter in detail and expressed deep concern over the teacher’s appointment.
“This is a sensitive and technical post but clearly favouritism has played a role,” said Afzal Nasir Raisani, the chairman of the BAGA action committee.
Mr Raisani called upon the government to take strict notice of such cases and cancel the appointment of the teacher.
“If the government does not withdraw the notification, we will launch a protest campaign to force the government to review its decision,” a statement issued by the association said.
