OKARA: Two constables were arrested for abetting a suspect to escape from DHQ City Hospital where he was getting treatment in custody.

The constables were identified as Amjad Ali and Muhammad Usman.

Sajid was arrested by the Ravi Police Station after an encounter with police. He was injured and admitted to

DHQ City Hospital on

Nov 16 while Amjad and Usman were deputed as guards in the ward.

When Police Lines Inspector Muhammad Yousaf along with other two policemen visited the hospital to check the criminal in custody, he found the suspect as well as both constables missing.

It was learnt later that on Dec 18, the doctors discharged the suspect but both constables kept it secret from the SHO and the investigation officer.

DPO Muhammad Raashid Hidayat got both constables arrested when the incident was brought to his notice.

The DPO launched a departmental inquiry against both policemen.

On the report of Inspector Muhammad Yousaf, City A division registered a case against both constables.
