Man shoots self after killing wife, daughter for ‘honour’

BAHAWALNAGAR: A man allegedly killed himself after shooting his wife and daughter dead over an honour-related issue in Faisal Colony in Khichiwala police precinct here on Friday.

The first information report (FIR) registered by the police says that Ishaq Goraya (55) was married to Zahida Parveen, and the couple had five children.

It says Ishaq suspected that his youngest daughter, Urooj, a BS student, was in telephonic contact with a man and would admonish her over the issue.

In the wee hours of Friday, Ishaq had a quarrel his daughter over the issue and opened fired on her, leaving her dead on the spot.

Hearing the gunshots, Ishaq’s wife rushed to the scene, and the suspect shot her too. She also died instantly. After shooting his wife and daughter, Ishaq shot himself.

He was being shifted to hospital when he succumbed to his self-inflicted bullet wound.

The police are looking into the matter.

BURNT ALIVE: A girl was burnt alive allegedly after her clothes caught fire while making a fire for cooking food at Minchinabad on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, on Thursday evening, Rehana (20) was making a fire by pouring diesel on firewood for cooking when she got engulfed in flames.

As a result, she suffered 80pc burns and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital by a Rescue 1122 team. She later succumbed to her burns at the hospital.
