SAHIWAL: Chak Badiyan SHO on Monday arrested two persons for an acid attack on a woman at village Saale of Chak 23/SP for forbidding them from coming to her rooftop.

According to reports, Rubina Bibi had long-standing tension with her neighbour Muhammad Naseem and his family.

She had previously raised concerns about the male members of Naseem’s family for accessing the shared rooftop without informing her. She accused them of intruding on her privacy.

On Sunday, a heated argument broke out between Rubina and Naseem’s siblings over the issue.

The following day while Rubina was at home, Ali, along with his sister Uzma and brother Saqib, allegedly threw acid on her when she opened her door. Hearing her cries, the villagers rushed to her aid and took her to the hospital.

The acid attack left the woman with burns on her eyes, forehead and upper face.

The victim had stopped them from coming to her rooftop

Rescue 1122 shifted her to the District Hospital, Pakpattan, for treatment.

District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Wallayat took notice of the incident and visited the hospital to inquire about Rubina’s health.

Chak Badiyan police registered a case against three suspects — Ali, Saqib, and Uzma — on complaint of the victim’s son, Husnain Ahmed.

SHO Chak Badiyan said Ali and Uzma were arrested on Monday.

In another incident, a middle-aged married woman was shot dead by her brother in the Qasimpur area of tehsil Pakpattan.

According to police, Amina Bibi was a mother of three and was married to Muhammad Shahid for nine years.

Last night, Amina’s brother, Zafar Hussain, visited her home and asked her to speak to him in private. During the conversation, Zafar fatally shot Amina with a 30-bore pistol, raising doubts on her character.

Amina’s husband, Shahid, told the police that Amina was a loving wife and mother to his children and that he had no doubts about her character.

Chak Badiyan police registered a murder case against Zafar on Shahid’s complaint. Police arrested Zafar and recovered the murder weapon.
