LAHORE: Senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira says one political party is in trouble and is seeking a dialogue with the forces which cannot be engaged under the law.

He was speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday at the residence of Usman Malik’s brother.

“Political parties always negotiate with political entities and not look towards apolitical forces. But a political party that is in trouble these days desires to talk with the forces that cannot do this under the law of the land,” he said.

Flanked by Hassan Murtaza and others, Kaira said that politics has become a challenge in the present time but resolving challenges is the essence of politics.

He said without being part of the government, the PPP supported it to curb division and hatred, adding Bilawal Bhutto rescued the government during tough times.

He denied making any new demand to the PML-N government, clarifying that whenever the PPP voiced its concerns on any issue, it was interpreted as a withdrawal of support for the incumbent setup.

According to him, some points of the PPP’s agreement with the government have been implemented, while others remain unaddressed. He urged the government to fully implement the agreement to reduce bitterness between the two parties.

He remarked that no party could solve the country’s problems alone and it required collective efforts to put the country on the right track.

“PPP and PML-N have worked with unity and mutual understanding to tackle crises.”

Referring to the upcoming anniversary of Ms Benazir Bhutto, he said caravans would head to Larkana, where party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would present the future course of action on Dec 27.

He praised the Punjab team for successfully mobilising flag-hoisting campaign across all districts of the province.
