QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to increase the funds for local government institutions, depending upon their service delivery.

This was announced by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti during his visit to Sui, where he inaugurated the new office of the municipal committee.

He emphasised the importance of functional local government institutions.

The chief minister said that resolving civic issues at grassroots level would save citizens from the hardship of travel, as most of their grievances could be addressed at local level.

The chief minister also pointed out that if local government institutions play an active role, it would reduce unnecessary pressure on provincial machinery.

Minister Mir Asim Kurd and Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan also accompanied the chief minister.

Earlier, Sui municipal committee chairman Izzatullah, along with other dignitaries, warmly welcomed CM Bugti upon his arrival at the municipal committee office.

The municipal committee head also presented a souvenir to the chief minister.
