GUJAR KHAN: The Punjab government is going to launch a minority cards programme soon, said Minister for Minorities Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora in Jhelum on Saturday.

He visited Jhelum to participate in Christmas celebrations held at the Saint Teresa Hall in West Colony, where he cut a Christmas cake alongside members of the community.

Mr Arora said there was a notable enthusiasm surrounding the celebration of religious minorities’ festivals under the guidance of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He announced that the chief minister would soon introduce the minority cards programme to facilitate the members of minority communities.

He said under the chief minister’s laptop scheme, a total of 2,000 laptops had been set aside for minority students in Punjab.

The minister expressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the properties of minority communities such as gurdwaras, temples and churches.

He said equal rights for all minority communities throughout the province were being upheld.

The government is actively pursuing the implementation of a minority quota in medical and engineering universities, aimed to enhance educational opportunities for minority students, he added.

“Sharing happiness among members of minority communities is essential for fostering social harmony and cultivating love within society,” Mr Arora added.
