Hamas has said Turkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with the group’s Shura Council chairman, Muhammad Ismail Darwish, in Doha where the two sides discussed the conflict in Gaza and “regional and international developments and their repercussions”, Al Jazeera reports.

“Developments in the Israeli aggression and efforts to support our Palestinian people, especially in the northern Gaza Strip, which is being subjected to the most heinous Israeli attack, were discussed,” Hamas said in a statement.

“For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed during the meeting his country’s position on the Palestinian issue”, and highlighted Turkiye’s efforts to “mobilise the international community towards the humanitarian catastrophe witnessed in Gaza and to work towards a ceasefire”.
