KHYBER: Unidentified gunmen killed a schoolteacher in Bara on Thursday.

Police said the incident took place in Sheenko area of Bar Qambarkhel, where gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on a schoolteacher, Roohul Amin, when he was coming out of a government primary school.

They said the teacher died on the spot while the assailants escaped from the scene. Later, local residents staged a protest demonstration at the site of the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.

Family sources of the deceased teacher said that he had received threats from some unknown people which he duly reported to officials of the education department and district administration but no precautionary measures were taken by the officials concerned.

They denied the deceased had any personal enmity with anyone.

Police said they had registered a case and started investigation alongside conducting raids at various locations to arrest the killers.
