Cycling: Wapda snatch 1st gold

LAHORE, April 12: Wapda won the first gold of the National Cycling Championship, winning the 1 kilometre time trial here on Wednesday on the opening day at cycling velodrome.

Senior vice-president, Pakistan Cycling Federation, Munawar Baseer inaugurated the premier activity.

Secretary, PCF, Idris Haider Khawaja and other officials of the national federation were also present on this occasion.

Zulfiqar clocked 1m.12.54sec and Sui Southern Gas Company's Noor Alam returned a timing of 1m.13.38sec for second place while Amjad Ali of Army gained the third place.

On the second day on Thursday in the 1000m sprint Nasir Hussain of Army will clash Noor Alam of SSGC for the gold and silver while Zulfiqar Ali (Wapda) will take on Shakawat Ali of (Army) for the third and fourth place.
