LAHORE, April 12: Condemning the Nishtar Park blast in Karachi, which claimed at least 50 lives, MMA president Qazi Husain Ahmad said attempts are being made to annihilate leaders with religious leaning.

Speaking at an Eid Milad conference organized by the JUP-Noorani here on Tuesday evening, he said attempts were aimed at paving the way for introducing secularism in the country.

He lauded late Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani’s role in formation of the MMA and said all steps would be taken to further strengthen the religious parties’ alliance.

PRESS CONFERENCE: Jamia al-Muntazir administrator Zafar Abbas Shahani and others condemned the blast and demanded that the government should pay compensation to the heirs of those killed in the incident.

They told a press conference here on Wednesday that the incident was part of the conspiracies being hatched by imperialistic forces to cause rift among the Muslim.

They linked the blast with the ongoing terrorism in Iraq, saying all such acts were aimed at pitching Sunnis and Shias against each other.

They appealed to Karachiites to record their peaceful protest avoiding violence, especially urging leaders from various schools of thought to foil the enemy’s nefarious designs.

RALLY: Leading a rally in Ichhra, Khaksar Tehrik chief Hameeduddin Mashraqi alleged the blast was a result of irresponsible attitude of government agencies which were focussing arrest of political activists instead of nabbing anti-social elements.
