SI, robber injured in encounter

KASUR, April 10: A sub-inspector sustained serious injuries while one of the robbers also suffered bullet wounds in an encounter at Allahabad on Monday. Police sources said that Abdul Waheed of Hujra Shah Muqeem was going to Chunian along with his family by his car when four masked robbers intercepted him near Urzanipur village. The robbers started snatching cash and valuables from the family. Meanwhile, two of the robbers stopped another car and snatched Rs17,000 in cash and cell phones from occupants.

In the meantime, a police patrol party, headed by Inspector Sarwar Jaffar and SI Khushi Muhammad, appeared on the scene. In a panic, robbers opened fire on policemen which was returned. The shootout lasted for more than an hour which resulted in serious injuries to SI Khushi Muhammad and bullet wounds to robber Tufail Khan. Later, the police arrested the injured robber while his accomplices managed to escape. The arrested robber identified his accomplices as Iqbal, Pervez and Zaheer.

Kasur DPO Syed Ahmed Mobeen has constituted a raiding team for the arrest of the remaining accused.
