KARACHI, April 10: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where four ships carrying containers, chemicals and seeds took berths at QICT and MPT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA report on Monday.

Departures were also fairly brisk where five ships, two containers ships, two chemicals carrier and one bulk cargo carrier, sailed out.

Three ships, to load and offload containers, rice and furnace oil, also arrived at outer anchorage.

Six ships, MSC Brianna, Thebeland, Iron Borhan, Pleione, Al-Marwah and Pantanassa, are currently at the port to load and offload containers, rice chemicals, seeds and iron ore.

Cargo throughput stood at 54,710 tons comprising 40,308 tons imports and 14,402 tons exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,403 containers (boxes).

Five ships — MSC Brianna, Thebeland, Anette Kosan, Al-Marwah and Amnok Gang — sailed out. Four ships, Nedllyd Muscat, Denderah Rickmers, New Toyokaze and Agean Tiger, are expected to take berths on Monday.

Edible oil vessel Docomo is due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships, Sealand Voyager and Loch Lomond, with containers and iron ore, are due to arrive on Tuesday.
