LAHORE, April 9: Former Davis Cupper Mohammad Khalid (Wapda) won the ITF Seniors Pakistan Circuit singles' final (above 40) beating Indian Nagraj after a tough fight at the Defence Club on Sunday. Khalid recovered to beat Nagraj 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 after a 45 minutes battle.

Nagraj won the first set after breaking Khalid in the 3rd game. But it was last laugh for Nagraj as Khalid seemed to be in hurry in the second set winning it after dropping only two games to equalize the score 1-1.

In the third set the fight for supremacy continued till five-all before Khalid broke Nagraj's serve in the 11th and then held his own to complete the win.

In above 50 singles, Asad Niaz entered the final defeating Ali Akbar, former secretary Pakistan Tennis Federation, easily 6-3, 6-4.

In the above 50 doubles, the pair of Rao Iftikhar and Zahid Zafar, the vice president and secretary Punjab Tennis Federation, cruised into the finals defeating Khalid Ikram and Omer Qayyum 6-3, 6-3.

In two quarterfinals, Asad Niaz-Ali Akbar toppled Mohsan Joya-Hussain Lodhi 6-1, 6-0 while pair of Toor- Fayyaz stretched to three set by Talha-Khurram in one of the best matches of the competition. The score in Toor-Fayyaz's favour was 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6 (4).

The above 60 years singles entered the final stage.

Naveed Najam defeated Malik Imtiaz 6-1, 6-2 to book a place in the final while Laeeq Pirzada edged past Rana Zulfiqar 6-1, 6-2.
