KHAIRPUR, April 9: Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah, Pakistan People’s Party leaders Syed Mehboob Shah Rashidi, Syed Samiullah Shah Rashidi and Syed Zaman Shah Rashidi have alleged that the administration and police are pressurising them to join ruling party.

They told a joint press conference at the local press club that the majority of government departments in the district particularly police, revenue, education and health had been rendered helpless.

The Rashidi brothers alleged that before pulling down boundary wall of their residence, the administration had asked them to talk to ruling party, and when they had told police to deal with political leaders according to law, it, too, had asked them to join ruling party.

They said the district administration was pressurizing them not to take the matter to court, they added.

PROBE: The District government of Khairpur is conducting an inquiry into the construction of 14 shops in hockey ground Luqman. The inquiry aims to checking the genuineness of the construction. This was stated by Khairpur Dost Panel nazim UC Luqman, Haji Munir Ahmed Arain, at a press conference here on Sunday. The inquiry was being conducted in response to a resolution passed by the UC Luqman a few days ago. He said that these shops were constructed during the tenure of the former district government by demolishing the boundary wall of the hockey ground. He aid that some people had not even paid rent for the shops. He said that water supply scheme, costing Rs20 million was approved for Luqman from Rohri canal whereas the sewerage work of Rs1.4 million has been completed.
