GUJRANWALA, April 8: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry will provide four well-equipped ambulances to the District Headquarters Hospital within next two months. The service will be provided to the poor patients under the supervision of the medical superintendent and patients welfare organisation.

This was stated by chamber president Akhlaq Ahmad Butt at a meeting, presided over by District Coordination Officer Manzar Hayat, here on Saturday.

He said the GCCI would soon establish a model school for the children of the labour class.

The DCO lauded the chamber’s efforts and unveiled projects for health, education and social welfare in the district through the citizen community boards.

ARREST: An alleged thief, who escaped to Dubai after his bail two years ago, was arrested on Saturday.

According to reports, Shahbaz flew to Dubai and his brother Omar Farooq kept appearing in court presenting himself as the accused during the last two years.

JAIL CASE: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 continued the hearing of the Sialkot jail case and recorded the statement of a judicial magistrate, Sher Dil, here on Saturday.

The judge, Mujahid Mustaqim, later adjourned the case till April 10 (tomorrow). The court summoned the complainant — additional district and sessions judge Muhammad Yousaf — for recording his statement.

INQUIRY: Taking strong exception to the submission of wrong figures regarding construction of a road, the DCO has ordered an inquiry. The work is being done from Artali Virkan to Chahwala village, Kotli.

At the district development committee meeting on Saturday, DCO Manzar Hayat appointed district monitoring officer Ehsanullah Bhutta as inquiry officer. He directed District Officer (Planning) Muhammad Amin Bajwa to submit his report regarding submission of wrong figures of the construction within a week.

SHOT DEAD: A property dealer was gunned down by his rivals in Alipur Chattha on Saturday.

Reports said Kishwar Chadher was on his way to his property office when his rival Imran along with his accomplices opened fire on him. He died on way to DHQ hospital.

Police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.
