Jones may miss fifth ODI

KOCHI, India, April 7: England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones is nursing a thigh strain and is doubtful for the fifth one-dayer against India in Guwahati on Sunday, according to a team spokesman.

“Jones strained his left thigh while batting on Thursday and it is highly unlikely he will play in Guwahati,” England media manager James Avery said on Friday.

Jones made a gutsy 49 in sapping humidity in the fourth one-dayer, which the hosts won by four wickets to take an unassailable 4-0 lead in the seven-match series.

Matt Prior replaced him behind the stumps when India batted.

Injury has already robbed England of several key players, including captain Michael Vaughan.—Reuters
