DADU, April 7: At least 13 police personnel were arrested here on Friday for their alleged involvement in the escape of two prisoners, Abid Shah and Anwar Khoso. The prisoners escaped from police custody in Mehar town on Thursday.

Mehar police SHO Badaruddin Buriro lodged an FIR under Section 222-A and 223 PPC against 13 officials of the police line, Dadu: ASI Wazir Samoon, head constables Ghulam Hyder, Abdul Sattar Leghari and constables Mohammad Usman, Abdul Ghaffar Khan Panhwar, Ghulam Hyder Brohi, Ghulam Rasool Panhwar, Wazir Ali Bughio, Ghulam Shabbir Dawach, Zulfiqar Babar, Shamir Khan Siyal, Yasin Markhand and Fateh Mohammad Khokhar. The local police arrested all the policemen nominated in the FIR.

The prisoners, lodged in the district jail of Dadu, fled when a police party was taking them back to prison after attending a hearing at a court in Mehar.

Earlier, on the complaint of the in-charge of police party, Wazir Ali, the police had registered an FIR against prisoners Abid Shah, Anwar Khoso and their accomplices, Haji Ismail Jatoi, Abdul Karim Khoso and five others.
