LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leadership has decided to mobilise the party here and abroad, besides building alliances with other political parties, “to ensure stability and economic growth” in the country.

The decision was taken at the PML-Q’s central executive committee meeting chaired by party president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, which also announced appointment of Dr Muhammad Amjad as the new chief organiser of the party. Dr Amjad has succeeded former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar in the office.

In a notification issued by the party president, Dr Amjad has been also been entrusted with the task of mobilising the party cadres for the next general elections.

He has been asked to focus on strengthening political alliances, besides organising party activities, campaigns, and events.

The new chief organiser will also be responsible for coordinating with central, provincial, and regional bodies of the party, as well as opening international its chapters, to ensure meaningful participation of overseas Pakistanis in all spheres of life.

The party president has instructed Dr Amjad to develop and implement party policies and strategies and forge new political alliances. He will also oversee party finances and resources as well as implement strategies for fundraising to support party activities.

In order to effectively manage and run the party’s affairs, Dr Amjad has been empowered to issue notifications as necessary in the absence of the secretary general, with the prior approval of the party president.

He will also manage the party’s central secretariat in Islamabad, besides maintaining its office at the Lahore secretariat to fulfill his duties.

Mr Hussain has instructed the new chief organiser to review and reorganize the party structure to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

The party president has ordered launch of a robust membership drive, besides organising activities to increase membership.

Mr Hussain said the chief organiser should continue to oversee and steer formulation and refining of party policies, besides developing a robust communication plan to enhance the party’s outreach.

Meanwhile, Mr Hussain has urged all other political parties to play their role for bringing political stability for sustainable economic progress and development in the country.

He stressed that political dialogue was the only solution to the country’s problems, and sustainable economic growth was linked to political stability.

“A close liaison among different political parties will foster political stability and address national issues effectively,” he added.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr Amjad said it was an honour for him to receive this trust from the party president, vowing to live up to his expectations. He said he would spread Mr Hussain’s message of tolerance and unity at home and abroad.
