LOWER DIR: A jirga of local elders resolved a two-year-old blood feud between two families in Khaima village of Balambat on Sunday.

A function in this regard was held at hujra of Farooq Iqbal Yousafzai during which the rivals forgave each other unconditionally. According to details, a man namely Kachkol was killed when his rivals had opened fire on him two years ago. The function was addressed by Malik Farooq Iqbal, former district nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan, SHO Ayub Khan, Malik Khaista Khan and others They maintained that when the members of a society didn’t step in, small arguments invariably resulted in ignorance, violence, and killings.

According to the speakers, jirga was crucial in settling important disputes outside of court. They valued the gatherings where everyone hugged and forgiven one another.
