KOHAT, April 6: Three members of a Tableeghi Jamaat were kidnapped in Bannu district while they were returning this week from an assignment in North Waziristan Agency, sources close to the families of the detained men said on Thursday.

The tableeghi group’s members were identified as Zikria Afridi of Afridi Cloth House, Aamadud Din of the education department and tyre dealer Saeed, all residents of Kohat.

They were kidnapped for ransom a few days back in Baka Khel area of the Frontier region of Bannu.

Family members of the kidnap victims were worried when they did not reach their homes in Raiwind days after the end of their preaching period.

They had been sent to Miramshah, headquarters of the North Waziristan Agency, to select members of a tableeghi party for assignments in foreign countries.
