GUJRANWALA, April 6: A minor boy from Ladheywala Warriach village was released by the kidnappers after receiving Rs350,000 ransom on Thursday. Police said Shahzeb, 3, was playing in the street when he was kidnapped. The kidnappers demanded Rs500,000 ransom but agreed on Rs350,000. They released the boy three days after getting the amount.

The family alleged that police did not help to recover the boy.

COMPOST PLANT: Three compost plants under Solid Waste Management project would be installed in the city at a cost of Rs750 million with the World Bank assistance.

This was stated by EDO Wahid Ahmad Butt at a briefing here on Thursday.

He said a survey team of planning and development board’s engineers and experts from Korea and Japan visited the city and reviewed the process of lifting the solid waste.

He said about 269 more tractor-trolleys, handcarts and containers were required to lift garbage. The city district government was establishing a new section of solid waste management, he added.

BUS BAYS: The National Highway Authority stopped the construction of bus bay along the GT Road in Ghakkhar town for collection of toll tax by a contractor and summoned deputy director in Islamabad along with relevant record on Saturday.

A delegation of citizens met NHA general manager (operations) Shabbir Husain in Islamabad on Thursday and apprised him of their concern on the construction of bus bay and kiosks along the GT Road. He assured them that their genuine problems would be resolved.
