PESHAWAR, April 5: Over 3,330 hooks have been removed in the Khyber circle of Pesco during the current drive against illegal use of electricity which has been launched in various circles to curb power theft. A spokesman for Pesco said that its manager Fazl-i-Khaliq Khan had constituted a task force to carry out raids in the villages of Deh Bahadar, Landi Arbab, Taj Abad and adjoining areas. They raided villages in the jurisdiction of the Khyber circle and caught 3,332 consumers stealing electricity through hooks, he said.
He said cases had been registered against power thieves in their respective police stations.
According to a Pesco assessment, Rs6.2 million electricity had been stolen in Khyber Circle alone, he said. So far the company had recovered Rs2.1 million while efforts were continue for the remaining amount, he said.
