NAROWAL: Sialkot police arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for producing a fake statement of a deceased woman and registering a murder case against her husband.

According to the first information report, Inspector Muhammad Razzak said that on Sept 25, information was received that Neelam Bibi, wife of Ejaz Hussain, a resident of Pali Topkhana, had consumed poisonous pills.

The woman was admitted to the Allama Iqbal Hospital Sialkot in critical condition. On the information, ASI Muhammad Mushtaq and ASI Muhammad Usman along with other policemen reached the hospital.

ASI Mushtaq had obtained written permission from the doctor to record the woman’s statement. ASI Usman recorded the statement of the woman before her death.

Later, police got information that the statement of the deceased woman was fake.

Inspector Razzak said that during the investigation, police found that Neelam’s brother, Muhammad Qasim, and ASI Usman had written a fake statement.

Qasim had put his thumb on the woman’s statement. ASI Usman had registered an FIR of murder against Neelam’ s husband, Ejaz, in connivance with Qasim.

Sialkot Cantt Police Station registered an FIR against ASI Usman and Qasim on the request of Razzak and arrested the former.

The inspector added that the suspect had confessed to committing the crime during the investigation.
