KARACHI: Veteran television actor Mazhar Ali passed away on Tuesday in Karachi at the age of 70, Dawn.com reported.

It said that the actor had been battling a protracted cardiac illness. He was receiving treatment for his illness and had recently come to Pakistan from the US.

Ali started his career at PTV and played memorable roles in several dramas, including Afshan, Shaheen, Kali Deemak and Kaanch Ki Gurya.

He is survived by his widow and three children, who reside in Houston, his sister, Ahla Imran said, adding that Ali had been admitted to the hospital for three weeks and passed away in his sleep.
