US envoy’s assurance

Published April 5, 2006

LAHORE, April 4: US Ambassador to Pakistan Ryan C Crocker has promised that he will take up with his government the matter of duty-free access of the Pakistani products to be produced in the quake-hit areas to the American market. The ambassador gave the assurance to LCCI president Shafqat Ali who took up the matter with him at a reception hosted by the chamber in his honour on Tuesday.

The ambassador said the suggestion regarding duty-free access of Pakistani products to be produced in the quake-hit areas would help speed up the process of industrialisation in those areas.

The LCCI chief said he would convince maximum number of businessmen from Lahore to put up industry in those areas once the US allowed the concession. —Staff Reporter
