KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in Machhar Colony on Tuesday evening.

The Docks police said that Wajid Zaman, 23, was killed near Kalpana Chowk. Area SHO Nafeesur Rehman said that he was sitting at his pan cabin when armed motorcyclists emerged there, opened indiscriminate fire on him and fled. He suffered four bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The officer said the murder appeared to be an outcome of some personal enmity but the police were waiting for the family to lodge an FIR to initiate legal proceedings to ascertain identity and motive of the killers.

He said that the victim had two wives.

The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
