SHEIKHUPURA, April 2: A constable was injured by three robbers in police uniform when he resisted their attempt to loot police employees’ salaries worth Rs5.7 million early Sunday morning. ASI Anwar and constables Shaukat Ali and Mushtaq were on duty when three armed men in police uniform entered the Police Lines and held them up.

When they tried to cut open the safe, the policemen resisted. The intruders opened fire injuring Shaukat.

The intruders managed to escape when the police returned the fire. The injured was taken to the local DHQ Hospital.

Following the incident, the DPO, the SP (investigation) and other officials reached the spot.

DIES ON ROAD: A woman was killed and her husband injured in a road accident on Narowal Muridke Road on Saturday night.

Munir Ahmad, his wife Zahida and children namely Munib and Tafalqa were going to Muridke from Narang Mandi when their motorcycle collided with an oil-tanker coming from the opposite side. Zahida died on the spot while Munir sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
