TOBA TEK SINGH, April 2: A former tehsil nazim and his six accomplices were booked on Sunday for tampering with the TMA record and taking bribe for changing ownership of residential plots in Jinnah Abadi near Low Income Housing Colony No 1.

Accused Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq and his accomplices — ex-UC No 55 naib nazim Malik Mukhtarul Haq, TMO Saleem Khan, ex-TO Afzal Warraich, ex-councillor Robina Kausar, TMA fire brigade in charge Iqbal Javed and TMA employee Abdul Rashid were charged with corruption allegation by Malik Abdul Sattar of Jinnah Abadi.

He moved court pleading that the accused had not only dismantled his house by showing a lawfully constructed house as unlawful in the TMA record but also looted cash, ornaments, a pistol and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The accused were also charged with taking bribe for changing transfer deeds of various other houses in the same locality. The registration of a case was ordered by an additional district and sessions judge.

The Faisalabad ACE additional director had ordered an inquiry which confirmed the accused guilty of charges. However, no arrest has so far been made.

KILLED: A villager was killed and his daughter was injured seriously on Sunday at Chak 298-JB near Gojra.

Mukhtar Ahmad Bhatti, who came from Lahore, had an exchange of harsh words with neighbours of his relatives. Later, he opened fire on them, killing Wali Muhammad on the spot and injuring his daughter Nargis Perveen seriously. She was admitted to Gojra THQ Hospital in critical condition.

Gojra City police have arrested the accused.

Sadaf Perveen, whose wedding date is fixed for April 5, was on her way to Toba for shopping by a motorcycle-rickshaw. At a deserted place, three masked motorcyclists stopped the rickshaw and deprived her of Rs25,000 in cash and a mobile phone.
