QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said all possible efforts are underway for achieving sustainable peace as restoring peace and protecting life are the responsibilities of the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday in connection with the International Day of Peace, observed on September 21, Mr Bugti said the survival of humanity and establishment of a developed society are only possible through peace, adding that peacekeeping is the biggest challenge the world faces today.

The chief minister said, “Pakistan is facing global conspiracies but we need to get things right internally.”

He said the negative role of social media and external forces could be ignored in worsening the situation in Balochistan. “Outside handlers are taking the youth away from the state on social media,” he pointed out.

Mr Bugti said seeds of hatred are being sown to poison the minds of the youth. “Realizing the sensitivity of the situation, we are sending our young people around the world, including Oxford University, to explore new avenues of learning and development.”

He said on the other hand, some elements are pushing themselves into the darkness of despair.

“On the International Day of Peace, we reiterate our commitment to make Pakistan and Balochistan the cradle of peace,” the CM said.
