KARACHI, April 2: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Sunday ordered a survey of all the unsurveyed government lands in Karachi on a priority basis, and called for steps for the computerisation of revenue record. Taking serious notice of manipulation in revenue records and usurpation of valuable government land, he directed the EDO Revenue to initiate all possible steps for making the lease, transfer, etc. of government land transparent.

The chief minister also ordered strict punitive action against DDO (Revenue) Korangi Aijaz Baloch and Mukhtiarkar (Revenue) Korangi for allegedly misappropriating 250 acres of land of PIDC which was under occupation of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and was meant for a desalination plant.

Dr Arbab was informed that there had been many complaints against the DDO with regard to the manipulating the revenue records in collusion with his subordinate staff and that the affair was also under NAB’s investigation.

Ordering action against all such officials, the chief minister impressed upon the revenue officials to ensure transparency in the lease and allotment. He said that all possible steps should be taken to check misappropriation of government land.—APP
