RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken action against unauthorised construction by demolishing two under-construction commercial markets, one warehouse, and sealing three illegally constructed markets on Lahore High Court Road and Gulraiz Road. According to a press release, the operations were conducted with the assistance of Old Airport Police Station, targeted properties that violated approved building plans and maps.
Despite prior notices issued by the RDA, property owners continued to violate regulations, breaching the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021. The unauthorised commercial buildings were constructed without the necessary approvals or No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza has instructed the Land Use & Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to implement strict measures against encroachments, unauthorised constructions, and illegal commercial activities. The RDA also urged the public to take moral responsibility in removing any form of encroachment to avoid further penalties and losses.
