SUKKUR, April 1: Power supply to entire upper Sindh, including Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ratodero and Larkana, was disrupted at about 9:35pm after a fault developed in the power control centre in Shikarpur.

No senior official of the Hesco Sukkur region was available for comment on the situation but SSO Jamil Ahmed at the Power Control in Shikarpur said that the breakdown in power supply had been caused after a main supply line circuit-breaker had burnt out because of an overload.

He said that the fault was being repaired and electricity would be restored soon. The electricity was not restored till late night.

With the advent of the summer season, Hesco has been resorting to undeclared load-shedding in Sukkur and adjoining areas for the past week.

Whenever officials are contacted, they say that Hyderabad Power Control had ordered them to cut the power supply.
